I’m so sorry for your loss. The cat I grew up with – a mere 5 pounds at her heaviest, but still mean enough to take down raccoons – lived to be an eye-popping 27 years old. When you spend that much time with someone, especially when so much of that time is spent petting them, it’s very hard to lose them.

Condolences to your family.

I found one of those poems on the sidewalk on the east side of Clark near Irving Park. I wish I could remember the exact cross street, but it’s hard to miss being at least a block long. The words are presented south-to-north and appear on average once every sidewalk square. It begins “Look up”. I hope it’s still there for others to find.

I actually think I’m right, Wayne. As you can see, “elegant plumage” figures in the next verse. Google bears me out on this one. So glad you stopped by, though. This blog has been dormant for a while.

You misquote the lyric from Hair. If I’m not mistaken it should read
“elegant plumage” not “gaudy.” Gaudy does not scan with the melody.
